A glimpse at Auckland

I’m writing this article from my hostel in Auckland, I slept pretty well !

First I would like to thank you for your support because I never said it and this is something I wanted to say : YOU ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO ME so thank you for your support !

So yesterday, my day began when the sun came to face at approximatly 5 :50am (Grear has forgotten to put curtains in her condo). I took this awakening like a positive start so I began to try to find out how to get to Auckland. Buses took too much time and were  expensive, so I decided to find a carpool, I found one on Facebook;his name was Ian. We talked a bit and he was very interested in my world tour. He asked me to teach him some Chineses basic expressions - in exchange he took me to Auckland.

I took the carpool at 7 :30am and we arrived at 10 :30am, I was starving because I took a banana this morning from the fridge of Grear but it wasn’t enough !

I found a good restaurant I advise you to go there if come ito Auckland one day - it’s called Running Horse ( the adress is  25a/25 Rutland St, Auckland). After this copious breakfast I walked and I took the direction of this big tower you can see in all the touristic leaflets.

When I arrived I saw people jumping from the tower, It looked fun ! Later I found a restaurant to eat mussels (I was missing Brittany)…A Big Mistake because what I didn’t know was that New Zealand mussels are way more bigger than the French ones and the other particularity is the color : Green !

My culinary experience finished, I decided to cultivate myself about the cultural background of New Zealand so I chose the Tamaki Paenga Hira Museum. I really advise you to go in this museum because it will give you keys to understand a lot of things about New Zealand and its people - for example, did you know that New Zealand was inhabited by humans only 800 years ago ?

When I came out of the museum I was not far away from  St Helene Mount,  so I climbed at the top and I took a photo with my new camera !

At the end of the day, I found a nice hostel with a zen garden on Prosford Street, it’s called Brown Kiwi Traveller. After that I observed the Christmas illuminations in Auckland, it’s a bit different from France because here it’s Christmas at  summer time ( Austral summer). You have to see their « Christmas tree » the pohutukawa, a big tree with some amazing red flowers !

Well it’s time to wake up, take a shower and continue my adventure. Stay curious and see you later !
